    Photography Workshop

Hey nature photography lovers! Here’s a chance to get all your questions answered, IN PERSON!

The Friends of the Namekagon Barrens Wildlife Area (FNBWA) is hosting a workshop for all interested in a hands-on,

outdoor photography seminar. Instructor, Dale Bohlke has been an active nature photographer for the last 17 years and also

organizes and presents at the annual Crex Meadows photo weekend. We will start the day off indoors with a discussion on the

principles of photography. After lunch we’ll adjourn to the Barrens and apply everything

    discussed during the morning session.

    When: Saturday, June 23, 2012

    Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

    Where: Namekagon Barrens Wildlife Area

Location: Details available at our website: http://www.fnbwa.org/

Why is FNBWA hosting this seminar? We invite you to come explore a habitat that is currently on the decline and, in fact,
a remnant from our past. The NBWA is part of the Northwest Sands Area of northwest Wisconsin, containing mainly a
pine barrens community habitat. This community type is globally rare and includes rich and diverse prairie flora and fauna.
In Wisconsin, pine barrens covered 7% of the land, or 2.3 million acres, prior to the European settlement. To date, the total estimate
of remaining pine and oak barrens is 50,000 acres. NBWA is a property managed by the state, and much like its “big brother”
Crex Meadows Wildlife Area, is home to species of birds, butterflies, and plants, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and insects that
are, in some cases, exclusive to barrens habitat. Come and enjoy a unique experience for photographers and naturalists alike!
